Voices and Aging

Hi all!

I was aging up some sims with cakes to take to the university when I got curious by how the game handles voices for aging sims. Will all sims born in-game have voice number 1 with the pitch right in the middle of the scale or will the game randomize their pitch when they are born and the voices as they age up?

I am curious, because toddlers only have 1 voice, while teens and up have 3.

  • @Keiomestre I could be wrong but it seems to my that my sims inherit their voices from their parents. I don't know if this happens in a vanilla game or if a mod is responsible.

NRaas Story Progression allows voices to be inherited. It's quite possible that without it, every child born in the game gets the same voice. I do remember that before I started using SP, all of the voices of children born in the game sounded the same, even after they aged up, regardless of which voices their parents had. After I started using SP, I definitely noticed that even as children, they no longer all sounded the same.
  • @Mikezumi @IreneSwift Thanks for the answers! I have the Story Progression mod installed, but only the base mod. The module that adds the option to inherit voices is the Population module, but I won't install it because the base mod is more than enough for me so far.

It's a good thing I usually play with progression and aging off, so at least the pre-mades have variety in voices, but there is a save I must check. Being in the third/fourth generation, that town must have a whole population with voice 1.
