Good Evening!
Hope you all had a Marvelous Monday and lots of fun with your Sims.
DivinylsFan Thank you for your comments and I apologize if anything in my posts bothered you that was not my intention. When decorating with the favorite colors of my Sims. Due to my 'random, as-it-happens' style of play, I like to look up more color codes online than what the game offers and use various shades of the color such as medium, light and darker shades along with some complimentary colors to go with them. Since my latest Sims 3 households started with one Sim, most of the main areas use their favorite but as the household expands then other areas such as the down & upstairs family are use their favorites in the decor. I've had sims with 'seafoam' as a favorite but since the game shade is so light, I like to look up other shades online for more of a variety.
HotBlackSand Hope that you had a good weekend and that Rebecca's new little bundle of joy arrived safely. As for my game, Sims 3 works great on my new laptop and tourism is now 'booming' in World Adventures as the Base Camp in France on Jarrod's first trip there was full of explorers. I think the old one was just not totally compatible with it as the laptop wasn't really designed for gaming. The game didn't even have sound on my old laptop but it does now.
emorrill Glad that you were able to find out what was causing your health issues and hope that you're one the road to recovery.
I spent last evening and today getting Jarrod settled back into Sunset Valley where Victoria Andrews is now his boss in his journalism career although he only has one promotion to go reach the top and becomes boss of his co-workers. Jarrod has already rebuilt his friendship status with his co-workers but still has a ways to go with his boss.
Since my last visit with Jarrod, Sunset Valley was hit by several days of torrential rains (now that Seasons is active) which cause massive flooding and many homes were damaged and had to be rebuilt including Jarrod's. Thankfully, Jarrod had a copy of his house plans registered with the local municipal records (aka Sims 3 studio), so he was able to have his home rebuilt in no time. His garden survive the floods and dried up nicely in the early summer sunshine. Jarrod's magic laundry and Chinese gnomes like to spend time watching his plants grow.
Since they say that pictures are better than a thousand words, I'll share the rest of Jarrod's summer adventures in photo/commentary mode.
Shortly after getting settled back into his home, Jarrod decided get some new outfits for himself for the summer season so that he wouldn't swelter in the head. Although it rained most of the summer, there were a few hot sunny days including the first day of the Summer Festival which he visited on his first day off that week. Here, Jarrod is competing against Leighton, Marty & Justine in the hotdog eating contest which he won in the next photo.
Jarrod then enjoyed a nice, refreshing yellow snow cone before heading home.
During the summer holiday, Jarrod received a phone call from one of his co-workers, Fiona McIrish asking him to travel to France to solve a French Puzzler by asking a local, Aimee Lefebvre for the solution. Since he had already attended the summer festival, Jarrod decided to use his leisure day to take his first trip to France to get the answer for Fiona. While there, he helped Estelle Fouchier (general merchant) by finding her baseball that fell down a hole near the Forgotten Burial Mound while playing catch with her children a few days before he arrived. Jarrod beginning his first adventure in France above.

The next day, after returning the baseball to Estelle and buying a Kenspa for himself (no celebrity discounts this trip), Jarrod found Aimee at the bookstore and after chatting with her for awhile, she gave him the solution to the puzzle that Fiona had asked for. Before leaving the bookstore, he purchased some recipe books from Noelle St James who is the Book Merchant this time around.
Jarrod then enjoyed lunch at the local French Cafe and indulged in a plate of frog's legs. Once he learns the recipe, Jarrod hopes to return to France to catch some frogs unless he gets an opportunity to take a trip to Egypt first.
After lunch, Jarrod helped out Francois Lambert by giving him one of the nice bottles of nectar he found while looking for the baseball and then he made a cheese plate for Francois to enjoy with it.
Jarrod spent the rest of the day at the Nectary where he purchased a nectar making machine and the best nectar racks before harvesting the nectar grape plants in the garden area. As usual, Jarrod had many locals lining up to talk to him including Edith Morel, Andre Lefebvre, Beatrice and Colette Bonnet. Despite not having the charisatic trait, he always has lots of local sims wanting to talk to him. Guess being 'irresistible' will do that, too.
Poor Edith was the first local to turn into a zombie during the country's full moon. She doesn't look so serious as zombie though, just a little green.
After Jarrod returned home, I decided to decorate his basement hobby area for the nectar making equipment along with the Bot making machine since he wanted to learn how to create a Simbot shortly after arriving back in Sunset Valley. I also added the 'All-in-One' bathroom in the exercise and reading area at the bottom of the circular stair. Used the light Wisteria shade (cfa3ea) with a complimentary Brown Sugar (b27c66) that I found on a color website called 'Creative Booster' which lists various color palettes with their hex codes. Used 'ghost white' for the light shades. The large fans should help keep Jarrod cool on hot summer days.
Will add more hobby and game items as time goes on and probably recolor the room to match the favorite colors of future household members.
Hope you all have a good night and will leave you with a nice Sunset Valley scenic view with the hot air balloon and Jarrod's gnomes playing in the garden.
Great Update with Jarrod SilverJanSims
Having a better gaming rig will certainly help with the Sims 3 operations, although it doesn't get rid of all the occasional problems ... Save and Save Often ... 🤣 Gald you got Jarrod set up in Sunset Valley and Seasons is an Expansion that I really like. I mean the weather is what it is ... And you may have it raining at least some every day for weeks at a time ... But it just adds another level to the gameplay.
It's good Jarrod got a chance to check France out as well ... Frog legs and all. The nectar maker, some grapes and whatnot to start with will be a good investment. His traits do have some effect on other Sims, but you will find that running a better gaming rig can do a better job of 'pushing' NPC Sims. I rarely use the Charismatic Trait because you can achieve the same benefits and more with the Charisma Skill. The Irresistible Trait is kind of fun to play ... But I usually don't choose it in favor of traits with more gameplay benefits. Like Perfectionist ... Just so I don't have to tell them to make their beds, and they write better books or paint better paintings.
Yeah-yeah, I know ... I am terrible to my Slaves ... Ooops, I mean Sims ... 😆🤣😂
Good Job with the workout area in the basement as well as the other big room. Everything you added fits nicely and there's still plenty of room. It's neat that Jarrod's Chinese Gnome is levitating ... I didn't notice it at first, but you can tell by the shadow under it.
....
Rebecca's little monster Hanna arrived with little fanfare ... But they are fun to play, and I think Hanna is cute. Hanna aged up to a toddler and started asking about her father ... So, Rebecca and Kris (father) are starting to look into working things out between them. Kris quit his job ... And is making his way from Al Simhara to Hidden Springs in that story ... We'll see what happens.
Happy Simming ... 💖
