Yeessss SilverJanSims ... Chi absolutely nailed that dive.
Completely remodeling the Base Camp is not really necessary, especially if you don't spend a lot of time there. It's still nice to drop a few things in that will make everything run smoother. I see that Chi and Bahiti are just moving along in their adventures and taking advantage of a lot that is available.
Have you decided what nectars you are going to make yet? I know a few good recipes, and how to rotate the recipes and stock to keep the prices and quality of the nectar high. But that's only if you want to use nectar to supplement their income. Your Sims can make good nectar that they can enjoy, earn lots of Lifetime Reward Points drinking, but that doesn't require the same degree of management that making nectar for profit does.

I haven't played The Sims 3 in ages.
I downloaded just the base game today, but I am on an entirely different computer set up. My monitor is 5120x1440, but I have the game at an ultrawide 21:9 ratio. It looks good but the UI is tiny. That's going to give me serious eye-strain. There is a UI fix on Modthesims, but it looks a bit involved and I am wondering if I should bother with this rabbit hole of getting the Sims 3 into shape, or sticking with The Sims 4. 😛

Hey ck213 ... I run my Sims 3 at 1920x1080 resolution (16:9 ratio) and you can change your resolutions in Options. I also cannot give you any advice regarding Sims 4, because I have never owned it, and never will. 😆
I have a serious gaming rig and have tried pushing a higher resolution/ratio, but it starts to affect the gameplay. I think it is because Sims 3 is an older game, and when you have certain EP's (like Seasons and Pets) running, I am not sure if the game can effectively push the graphics no matter what your rig can handle, but I am no tech whiz either.
Good luck with getting your game set where you want it and hope you can get back into Sims 3 ... Looking forward to whatever you want to share, and it's great seeing you around here.
