@igazor - Hi :)! BTW, isn't there something, somewhere written about the Graveyard when altering towns (like SV) because of the deceased? I know that's a choppy question presented poorly but, I remember reading something about the importance of that place and not ruining your game. Forgive me if I'm confusing this with something else.
@sindocat - I thought about what you said and decided to put it to the test. It is not possible to have a Graveyard function as a Graveyard without the lot being set to Graveyard. When I tried to switch the lot to 'No Visitors', I was given this message:
"This lot currently has a special building on it. For Sims to treat this lot like the specified lot type, the building must be removed."
So, I cannot manually change the lot type. I get that lots which have specific functions such as the school and business are designated as 'No Visitor'. However, the Graveyard is different, there is nothing visibly there (maybe fishing in SV). Although, the Science Center, which operates a lot like the Graveyard is designated as a fishing spot. Plus, the Graveyard is located in an isolated area of town but, Sims don't seem to mind traveling the distance (Sunset Valley).
In my version of Los Simles, the Graveyard sits on the edge of the map (original location) and there is nothing there except markers for when Sims actually die (then I'll remove the fake one and replace them with the real headstone). Sims don't go inside of the mausoleum, but they will occasionally mourn the markers I have placed.
