It's got to be gardening for my sims. Often it is a side line. For example Baby is an athlete but she still gtows fruit and veg. I tend to involve the whole fail as soon as they are old enough. Nothing like using child labour and it's really great for skill building :)
A second source of income is collecting objects. Particularly useful for building funds quickly but it tends to get abandoned as the sims establish themselves in their careers.
