What's your favorite way to make money?

Infact this was how my VERY FIRST Sim - Jetta Burns - started out, playing guitar in front of Sunset Valley's theater for tips. All day and every day - until her dying day! Literally! When she died, she was in the middle of playing for tip, when old age finally caught up with her! Her family was "well set" type of wealthy (this was before I knew what "motherlode" did). She would end up with 2 daughters - Mary and Miranda. Mary would (later on) do what Jetta did for a living (still plays for tips to this day), though Mary does it more for fun.

This was an extremely difficult choice! As with others, I wish there was an "all of the above" option listed!

However, among my favorites to choose from on the list for the poll, I'd say the ambitions career paths as I love the freedom they offer and different types of tasks featured (some of which I'm even still now exploring or getting to learn about in this case) as well as just their creativity.

After a private ceremony in front of city hall, one of my newly married couples got a gift in the mail worth 75,000 dollars from the husband's old friend.My sims mostly have self employed carreers though.

The first time my newly married Sims got a gift in the mail, I was a bit baffled. But then it kept happening. What fun!

late responding , sorry, story of my life
on owning businesses, you go to the business and put down whatever it says to become a partner
Click on it first from map view to see how much you need to become partner.
Then send your Sim there & select become partner.
Your Sim will go there, put the money down, hang out there for a little bit then come out.
Then if your Sim has a lot of money, you can put the game on pause, go to map view, click on it and see how much
you need to buy out your partners.
If you have enough, click on it to queue up buy out partners, then go back to your Sim, unpause game & they will
go inside and buy out their partners, becoming owners.

Don't forget every Tuesday or Thursday (sometimes Mondays) to collect your money ! Just click on it and it will give you that option.
If your Sim only has enough to become a partner for now, he or she will still get some money every week, so don't forget to collect it,
and you can save for the buy out to own it.
When you own a business the Sims who work there work for you. You can fire them, change the name of the business if you want.
You can collect the money from it by computer under real estate or clicking on it on map view, and
do it while your Sim is doing something else, even sleeping.
Its hard to say what day your Sims can collect, because they change but its sometime during the week.
And if you forget to collect that week, you will have to wait until the next week, but it doesn't accumulate.
The next week you will only get your usual weekly amount so try not to miss the collection.
Theater, Science building, business building, Sports Arena, Hospital, big money makers.

thats me all the way, I try to take all that into consideration.
If they have toddlers I usually try to keep one parent home with them.

collecting flowers can be lucrative too if they're in a press for money, but they need the flu shot.
A few of those flowers brings in $200, $400 & my fav $600.
I ain't saying she's a gold digger, but you ain't messing with no broke, broke, broke lol
Here's another tip, got a Sim pressed financially ? Looking for some easy money ?
Plop the Stones throw greenhouse down then send your Sim to collect those gold stars the dancing flowers produce.
I don't do that too much but I do it with my broke gardeners who are just starting out.

I rarely even have them take the job of alchemist or gardener or whatever, I just collect or create stuff and sell it through the inventory. I wish the consignment store wasn't such a pain to sell, having to click over and over and over and over to sell everything is so stupid and painful.

you don't have to sell at the consignment store, just drag it out of your sims inventory.
When it asks if you want to sell, say yes

suggestion: Edit the klepto's traits in CAS & change them so she can get a decent job. I did it to Claire Ursine in Sunset Valley. Right now she is working from home as a Gardner because she was preggo, but she likes to fish, so as soon as her son is old enough to go to school, off she goes to earn a living.
You can change their traits with the cheat (Ctrl, shft, C) then shift click your Sim and to the right you'll see modify Sims traits
