Why does my sim keep getting the same adventures over and over?

I hate it when that happens. All I can do that I know of that I can do is go and do other things, like get a special certificate thingy so you can buy a vacation home because you've got level 3 ... Whether or not you do that, occupying yourself with other things I find makes the game give an opportunity to do an adventure without checking the board, breaking the cycle.
