@graventhe : you are right, the vampires in Sims 3 really are a bit lame and have no powers imho. I would have liked them to be a bit more frightening..
But for the drinking problem you have: there are some mods for the vampires here: http://tremerionsims3.blogspot.com/2014/03/patch-167-update.html
which help a lot in gameplay.
I just don´t know if these mods work as intended when your game is patched to 1.69. They should, but I would highly recommend to test them out in a game which can get screwed up.
If you are still on patch 1.67, like I am, then the mods work really good.
