Will Sims 3 get wrecked if I try Sims 4 - since it's for free for a couple of days?

I was going to try to say this too. I have not put Origin on my new computer to avoid the risk of having it auto update my Sims 3 from 1.67 to 1.69. This means I no longer have access to my Sims 4 game - unless I get my laptop going again.
