Using the Multitab 6000 to do homework is fun! :p As long as the sim's other needs (particularly social) aren't too low they can do homework in far less time and it will fill their fun bar. I have my child and teen sims meet friends or talk to friends at school so they can start building friendships early. That helps unlock charisma skill levels. I have them do homework right after school on the Multitab mostly because they finish so quickly and I don't have to worry about stress levels.
I don't remember if they can do homework with other kids on the tab or not. If the kids are ones I've raised from a baby, they usually have enough points to buy Multi-tasker by the time they hit grade school. It usually takes less than half the day to finish the late homework, then if I remember, I'll switch over to either meet new friends or talk to friends. My latest gen 5 just got his wife knocked up so it'll be a couple of weeks until I get back into school.
