Well I can answer about the bars - the new pool bar programming created a conflict with all the professional bars in everyones world - even Bridgeport - I find it funny they mucked up their one and only city world - but there is a simple fix - remember what we do with the circular stairs - just replace them with the same thing and it will fix the issue. The recoding is fixed in the patch for all the stuff in your catalogues it just not cover anything already in a world ir in your library bin. I had to replace all my bars in the clubs I had saved in my library as well - then the bar tenders will go back to working properly.
Your sim was having the normal glitch sims get when you go back to an old save with a new patch. That can happen to every sim you have played with. The solutioin is simply to reset all the sims you have played but not with the reset command as that does not seem to fix the sims we play - it might work on the world sims but not ours - just evict them to the clipboard and then move them back in their house and they will be cured. It is also why playing them in new world fixes them as technically you are using one that was not in play when the patch was used or that you save or took from the library. Most of the time the patches do work on library sims that we play with, as it is sort of like a clipboard reaction and is why sims can be reskilled and take classes of skills they already know. Both are very easy fixes.
This is not a new EA problem but an issue I recall us having in Sims 1 and 2 when there is patches with recoding added. Used to be the game was then borked, but now a days they are pretty easily fixed with out having to start a new game. Oh and after you have fixed those, make sure you clean your caches - that way the new proper coding will be in the caches.
