How did you upgrade your PC, from what to what?
I upgraded from an i5-4690 and 8GB DDR3 RAM clocked at 1600 Mhz to a Ryzen 5 3600X and 16 GB DDR4 RAM clocked at 3200 Mhz. I just replaced the motherboard, CPU, RAM, case and PSU. I'm still using the same SSD (Samsung Evo 850) and GPU (GTX 1060 6 GB), but my game is running considerably better and things that used to lag occasionally, like Create-A-Style, don't lag at all anymore.
This is how much RAM the game was using after playing for 4 Sim days in Sunset Valley without saving (and using CASt quite a lot):

I do wonder what game are playing those who claim the game to be using 5 GB of RAM. Maybe they have access to a secret 64-bit version. The max I've seen the game use before crashing is 3.6.
@Naus Your un-upgraded PC resembles a bit the one I'm currently using for TS3 playing, it has an i7-4790 CPU, 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM and a GTX 760 (192 bit) 3GB VRAM GPU. The hard drive is a 1TB 7200 rpm Western Digital HDD, not an SSD like you're lucky enough to have.
That youtube clip you linked to was interesting. I've seen several people who claim that it is using an SSD instead of HDD that makes CAS and CreateAStyle so much faster, but sadly that's not my experience at all. I have 2 Asus ROG gaming laptops with SSDs, and CAS and CaSt does not work faster on them compared to the others with HDD's. The fastest CAS and CaSt I've seen so far is when I play on the desktop computer I described above, which also has the fastest and strongest CPU of all my computers, both desktops and laptops. So it seems like it is the CPU and not the hard drive that's most important in this case.
