Wow... I guess I had forgot!

After all of these years, I guess I had forgotten just how great TS3 really is...
Like most people lately, I've been at home with a lot more free time than I'm used to. So, I figured this would be a great opportunity for some needed TS4 time; however, after 20-30 minutes I would find myself getting bored and just shut the game down.

After getting nostalgic reading a few threads in this section, I decided to make the plunge and reinstall TS3. Granted, I was bit lazy and instead of spending a full day reinstalling all the EPs, SPs, and store content. So, I only installed the base game... but wow!!

Today, I've been entertained for hours. I had completely forgot how much more in depth the gameplay in TS3 is compared to TS4. Now, I just need to remember all of the mods that I should use, pickup some nice default skins (and possibly eyes too), andd eventually install the rest of TS3 packs.

Sorry if this thread seems a tad pointless, but I've had so much fun today that I needed tell somebody! lol :D

  • @Naus Thanks! I will definitely do that.

@SuzyCue72 Thanks for the research. Since I don’t know what the other stuff is and I own my Store stuff I think in gonna skip it too.

@Nikkei_Simmer Thanks, Christopher Steel is my favorite Sunset Valley sim.

@Felicity I think I’m gonna stay away from, just to be safe! lol

    @Jase Wise choice! :)
  • @Jase As you could probably tell by my sig...pic. Mine's River McIrish. :D
  • @Nikkei_Simmer I would never have guessed. :D

When I played TS3 previously I would take Donnovan Steel from Lucky Palms and move him into Sunset Valley and with nraas mods make him brothers with Christopher Steel. Of course I’ll have to reinstall my Store stuff before I can do that again.

Something really weird I noticed ever since I upgraded my PC is that the game seldom goes above 2.5 GB of RAM usage, no matter how long I play or what I do while playing. The game hasn't crashed once. Before upgrading my PC, the game would easily go above 3 GB in large worlds.

I'll try to have the task manager open next time I play to check RAM usage as I'm playing.

my game is only using 1.6gb at the moment, though sometimes it can go up to 2.4gb if im on an extremely busy lot with lots of stuff going on.

but i'm on a 'relatively' new game (first generation, 90 days in so far) with a pop of only 120ish sims so, we'll see how it goes when that doubles ahahah.

but i've found not stuffing everything from every EP into the same map helped a LOT also disabling in-game store shopping thingy. my old world i played on i'd hit 3gb after a few simweeks like 20ish days :(

so 1.6 after 90 days i'm very happy with.

but yeah back to OP, sims 3 is freaking awesome, there's a reason why most of us here have been playing for many, many years. i was in high school when i first started playing, now i'm just almost finishing university.

and i'm certain i'll still be playing for many years to come until microsoft drops 32bit support, which is inevitable at some point as they dropped 16bit.
