Out of curiousity, what does it mean when the animals show up black in the portraits? I've had that happen a number of times, mostly with animals I add to housholds in Edit Town. Sometimes it goes away, other times it doesn't.
In my current game/world (and the one before it, but it got corrupted) I have had some issues with horses wanting to use house doors and getting pathing issues because they can't. They have plenty of room to go around the houses but they want to go through them for some reason? I've never seen it before and I've been playing with horses in my families since pets was released.
