Strange Dating Mechanic Bug I just found in the base game patch.
Apparently, it counts public romancing as dates. I was flirting with a NPC in the park, and then I suddenly got a notice that my Sim had their first date. I think what is suppose to happen is that you have to ask them out on a date first before you get that memory notice, as public flirting is a lousy first date. I unlocked the "Ask Out on a Date" interaction after the First Date ended, too, but I read that you only get that option after you use the Confess Attraction action, which I didn't do yet.
The Ask Out on a Date option works great, but a Free Will glitch caused my date to jump in her car after the First Kiss and leave. I didn't get the Second Date memory in the scrapbook or in the alert, so I can only assume that the date must have canceled itself out somehow. The game is acting as if that date never happened, but it still recorded the first kiss.
Just a FYI in my report: I've been playing this testing scenario in one sitting due to the Relationship Reset bug I have. I want to see if it is possible to get my Sim a girlfriend, save, and then reload the game to see if they lose that relationship as well.
