Need a little help. I've seen lots of messages about either not being able to install the patch (1.55) or installing it and then getting a black screen when trying to launch Sims.
My DD updated the patch yesterday and the game launched but would give an error message when trying to create-a-sim or play existing sims. We loaded Island Paradise today thinking that might reverse the issue. We're still getting all the way loaded but keep getting the
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
She has most of the expansion packs and some custom content. We're running Windows 8. I tried some of the suggestions in the technical forum like removing cache files, reinstalling original sims3, adding files to DEP but starting thinking it might be an Island issue and not an patch issue. Is anyone else getting this message or does someone have any other ideas to try? My DD suggested deleting all her custom content and existing SIMS wearing custom content. Would this help?
She's so excited to play and I'm a totally untech mom. Help!
