Agreed! I looked in crinrict's help blog and what happened to my sim looks like the picture at the top of this section:

I have the Story Progression mod that she recommends at the bottom of that page, but it still happened. The mod gave out a couple of error scripts, which I've posted up on Twallan's site, but I don't understand them - they may be worthless.
The thing that annoyed me the most was that it happened to my sim on his way
home, so I lost all my progress from his vacation (maxed out martial arts, bought Chinese books, made Chinese friends etc). I'm just glad I'd saved before he set off!
