Hi Forgeblade, yes she thought it sounded like "memory leak" and generally poor testing and not enough checking. I guess that's a risk if you're trying to pump out lots of content to short deadlines and maybe many people work on the code so you lose consistency.
The game leaves all these cars all over the place, for example, but then doesn't remove them, which causes lag. Twallan's Overwatch deletes on average 100 abandoned vehicles per sim day in my Riverview. But Crinrict explained a while ago that modders can just 'go around' the problem if need be, whereas EA are obliged to actually fix it. Maybe that takes longer but they are soooooo slow - some problems, like not being able to excavate in WA for example, have been around for a really long time now.
I can accept that if a player has a new computer then they might get an experience that is faster and shinier, maybe they can play more easily with the high settings. That's fine, but other computers that meet or exceed the specs on the box, should be able to play with some of the settings at more modest levels.
Games are released with a few bugs but then are patched later to fix them. Except that the Sims 3 patches seem to break more than they fix!
Coffeechick, the party thing definitely happens to me. My sim went to a house party across the street. It wasn't what he was hoping for - there was only one other guest, my sim, and the host. So what did they do for the duration of the party... erm, they stood in silence in the garage!
