Re: Are Discs Recyclable?

@sonic65101  Whether the discs are recyclable will depend on what materials your recycling service accepts.  At the very least, a specialty electronics recycler would be able to process them.

For Sims 3 at least, I'd strongly recommend keeping the discs or at least finding them a new home.  There are a few issues with Sims 3 and the EA App, including that Create a World Edit In-game doesn't work, and even aside from that, plenty of people would love to play without needing to sign into the App.  Maybe you're not one of those people, but even so, you might know someone who owns the game already but hates having to use the App to launch it.  While they couldn't register your copies, they could convert to an all-disc install and be rid of the App entirely.

This isn't merely a hypothetical.  I've seen numerous comments on various Sims forums describing players' searches for affordable disc copies.  These are people who've already bought the game once, perhaps at full price, and are willing to spend more to get a game launcher-free copy.

Sims 4 runs exactly the same whether you have discs or not, so don't bother saving those.

@sonic65101  Newer base game discs, specifically those manufactured after September 2012, do require Origin, or now the EA App.  The older ones do not.  And none of the pack discs require Origin, so all you or someone else would need is a sufficiently-old base game disc to complete the EA App-free collection.
