@shoniesxo  There's no way to fix the underlying problem.  The Harvester from Ambitions will gather nearby bugs, and you can find one in BuyDebug if you don't want to wait for your sims to make one.  A cat can catch beetles as well, although you'd need a mod (NRaas Traveler) to unlock the ability to travel with a pet.

Other than that, your only option is to cancel the quest.  If it's the one where you're using the assassin bugs as the honor guard for the mini emperor, there's no other step after this one, so all you're missing out on is the reward for turning in the bugs.
