Solved

There was a Problem... See the Log for details,,,

NO LONGER CAN PLAY SINCE SOME LEGACY UPDATE (Think some shop/store combo deal? Either way (Sims 1, 2, and 3 combo))

Old  solutions do NOT WORK for me. NOTHING DOES.  Also, any Origin version no matter what forces me to EA App so using Origin temporarily even isn't possible.

72 hours played almost 73, now nothing.

Cleaned Registry entries of Straggler Sims3 anything.
I have no other straggler Sims 3 files or folders ANYWHERE that I can find.

Reinstalled after Uninstalled - No help.
EA App.

Grrr. No, I don't have Sims 3 bought on my Steam yet ~ and I should NOT need to for a problem caused from EA's own end anyways; so I can't check that to see if it gives me the same "message"

And before someone tells me to See the Log, it is Non-existent. There is NO log to check.

Uninstalled for now since it's just a digital paperweight of space that does NOTHING besides hog Gigabytes now.
How long has my gave stopped being playable now? A year or more...

  • So update; no need to mess with Drivers. I fixed it, BUT it does require you to have a copy of the game from the Origin era. (Sorry, Steam version probably won't help here!)

    What I did then:
    Install old version.
Click play so it links to EA App, don't mind the errors it tosses you on that launcher. Close launcher.
Go to EA App, Sims 3. Now pick Repair.

For me that worked, as I clicked Play through EA App and it brought up the Launcher without the error. I was able to play again!

  • nfsrpfan  If you'd like help getting the game running, let me know.  There's no reason Sims 3 shouldn't work on current hardware or in Windows 11.

If you do want to reinstall, it's simpler to do so through the EA App, that is if Sims 3 is showing in your game library.  Sure, there are advantages to an all-disc install, but it sounds like you get the prompt to use Origin, which means there's no getting around the EA App, so going directly through the App has no downside for your setup and also means fewer points of failure.

Anyway, if and when you want to reinstall, temporarily disable your antivirus first.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and you can reenable the AV after you've tested the game for the first time.

I've tried everything short of reinstalling my OS and that should NOT be necessary.
It used to work obviously without this error. Now it no longer does.

I would add the dxdiag but it has too many identifiers (id keys etc) to censor out so I'm not going to as this forum is very public.

I can however tell this much:

    Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700F (2.10 GHz)

Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

    Edition Windows 11 Home

    Version 25H2

    Installed on ‎12/‎23/‎2024

    OS build 26200.8037

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.300.0

Graphics/Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

  • nfsrpfan  I need the entire dxdiag, saved as a text file.  The only real identifiers are the machine name and ID near the top.  Nothing else is personal, which is why we're allowed to ask for dxdiags on this forum (as opposed to, for example, an msinfo report, which would in fact be too sensitive to post in public).  The info you've provided isn't nearly enough for me to start to look for problems.

Sorry for late response, life happens. Game still used to work though without much trouble.

Also coincidentally my PC hit a system error shortly after anyways so been dealing with that stuff as well.

  • nfsrpfan  Sorry for the late reply; I've been away from the forums for a few days.  One obvious issue in your dxdiag is that the graphics driver is crashing.  The dxdiag doesn't show what triggered it, but this would explain why Sims 3 isn't working.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

That of course assumes that you've resolved the system error, since whatever happened there could also prevent Sims 3 from working along with all the other effects.

Sorry also for a bit delayed replay... Ah, this Windows 11 doesn't let me do that with Drivers even though I am the only Admin user.
And Sims 3 was the first to just stop working long before this last system error. I've been unable to play Sims 3 for practically over a year now though it was fine prior to that!

  • nfsrpfan  Display Driver Uninstaller works fine in Windows 11.  What happens when you try to use it?  If you're getting a security-related message, it's probably coming from your antivirus, whether the message makes that clear or not.

Drivers can get corrupted for one reason or another, including an update going badly.  The fact that the game worked and stopped naturally means something changed on your computer (since Sims 3 hasn't been updated in over a year, and in almost a decade before that), but trying to find out what is usually about trial and error: looking for evidence of a problem and then trying the usual suspects.

In your case, it's clear the graphics driver is crashing, and that would explain the problem all by itself, so there's not much point in trying anything else until this particular issue is resolved.
