Yeah, that didn't help me at all. It's not "stuck" on installation because it plain won't give me the option to install, period.
Ok folks, here's the problem - the EP is downloading fine but Origin is not automatically launching the installer so you are not getting the Copy to Clipboard option for your product code before the installation process. The installer is located in the Origin Library folder, in Application Support so it can be opened manually. However, you will need to contact Customer Support for your product codes. Here's exactly what you need to do:
- Download the EP as usual (you may have to click on the orange download button a few times, if the download progress bar doesn't pop up please use the Origin reset tool and then try again)
- Once it has finished downloading click on Origin > Preferences in the menu bar
- Now click on Installs & Saves then Browse Game Installers:
- In the Finder window that opens, open the folder with the most recent date modified then double click on the installer for the EP you have just downloaded. It will be a file type .dmg and may have the EP title and/or number in it.
- The installer will open and ask for your product code. If you have this from a disc copy that you had of the game just enter it and go through the installation procedure. If you do not have it then you will need to contact EA Customer Support who can verify your account and give you your product code to enter.
Contacting EA Customer Support:

I'll be checking this thread so please post any questions you have but bear in mind I'm in the UK so may not be in your time zone 🙂
The problem with contacting EA support for the codes is that I can never get through. Been trying and trying for two days. Tried to live chat with 3 different browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) with adblockers/pop-up blocking turned off. I never get a response. Never. Tried the phone call option yesterday, no response. I could manually install my games with the codes, but I can't get them from EA.

THANK YOU SO MUCH IT WORKED 🙂 🙂 I hope EA makes a fix soon though
It may be because it's the weekend, try again tomorrow. It is very annoying I know ☹️

I purchased both the base game, Sims 3, and the expansion pack Sims 3 Pets a few days ago. The games both showed up in Origin and began downloading. My Sim's game installed, but my Pets expansion pack won't install or show up in Origin at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, refreshed my games, restarted my computer, etc. Nothing is working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Note: I'm playing on a Mac.

@Khab5412 Did you hover over the game icon in Origin - then click the small i - does it show as owned? Is your computer a pc or mac?

Hi @Khab5412
moved your post to mac
Could you please try the solution in the first post of this thread
So i tried the suggestion changing the preferences but when I clicked "browse installers" it led me to a "download cache" folder that was empty?
What do you mean you changed the Preferences? Have you changed the location where Origin downloads to?
Click on the EP to download it, you may need to click on the orange download button a couple of times before it downloads. Once it has downloaded (you can see the progress in Origin) you then click on Origin > Preferences then Installs & Saves then Browse Game Installers.
@Bluebellflora - Also, I tried removing origin in the way suggested for macs but I had a problem when i reached this stage :"Go into Preferences and delete com.ea.origin.plist" because that file didnt exist to begin with! And then when I tried the other steps the files just reappeared again after I deleted them. So i tried moving the origin application to trash, and then reinstalled it from the place you suggested - still cannot download anything :/
@Bluebellflora nothing happens at all when I click the orange download buttons
If you can't actually download anything then you have a connection issue. Let's try again:
- Use the Origin reset tool - https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
- Drag the Origin app from your Applications folder to the Trash. Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
- Download Origin again from the website - https://www.origin.com/en-gb/download
- Install Origin, log in and try to download an EP. You should see the progress bar in Origin as it downloads.
- Once downloaded follow the steps in the accepted solution to open the installer manually
@Bluebellflora thank you so much for your help, the problem seems to be fixed! The only problem I now have is not having the serial code to install my EPs, they weren't included in my confirmation emails for some reason. But thank you so much for the advice 🙂
Great! You need to contact customer support for your codes - https://help.ea.com/uk/contact-us/
@Bluebellflora Thank you so much! This fixed my issue! Just waiting to chat with EA about my registration code.

Hi @tayscarlett @eschliff @CassieRauk
Could you guys try the solution in the first post of this thread.
I've merged your posts
I would love to try that, but the Origin app won't even open for me anymore. I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling it, and reinstalling it. It just crashes immediately.

@tayscarlett Oh, in that case can you try a reinstall of Origin fully, then try again after a reinstall?

OK, finally could download the game. Now however if getting ahold of customer service was as easy said as done. 2 days trying, no luck, no phone calls, no chat. Seriously getting annoyed now.

HELLO,
I have managed to install my town life stuff expansion using the first posts instructions but in the origin app my game STILL appears as not even downloaded yet.
Why the hell wasn't such a huge glitch fixed up before the newest update of origin was given out.
I am livid!
