Re: Error Code 12

Error 12 on 64 bit is rare, but it can happen.

Is your save really big ? Can you check on the RAM usage when you play the game ? If it gets over 3.7 GB, that's the error you'll get cause it' an out of RAM crash you're seeing.

  • It was pretty big!  It was a full neighborhood with lots of houses and residents...etc.

I don't know how to check the RAM usage (I am a bit dumb about those kind of things)...thanks for the info though!!!

Put Sims 3 in Windowed mode then when it runs, click on the task bar and choose the task manager

That should give you the RAM usage for the programs running. Find ts3.exe and see how much it uses

I used to get this back in my Mod-free days when I made the mistake of enabling EA's "story progression" know more commonly as the EA bugfest only to find it overfilled towns way too fast and even caused EC12 to come up frequently on saving.I had to get into NRaas Mods to stop that and other issues I kept having.

NRAAS  is where I got a fixed version of story progression from and this one has never caused any problems that weren't my own fault from using the wrong settings on it.

So...if I turn off story progression then I won't get the error anymore?

No. You can get this error without running SP.

The issue usually rears its ugly head if you wait too long before saving your game, especially if you do a lot of switching back and forth between families in Edit Town mode or do a lot of building. As long as you make sure you save every two or three sim days, after you've switched families or done some massive building, you should be okay. It's when you keep saving after an hour or two of game play when you're more likely to run into this issue.

This is when I wish the game has auto save!  The auto save mods I have found tend to wig my game out :c(  Thanks for your help :c)

  • So...I got the NRaas mod...do I need to do anything to it or is it ok to leave it in it's default settings mode?  I am not overly particular about what is happening to the other Sims in town anyway...

    Thanks again!
