I found out what's going wrong. It's because my C-drive doesn't have enough space.
After I cleared unwanted files in C-drive, my saving is now going smooth.
Thanks for your response.😕mileyhappy:

Just one thing to add:
If your current game is too large to load, go to My Documents> Electronic Arts> The Sims 3> Saves> Currentgame.sims3 folder,
and delete all packages with the extention .package
This won't affect your gameplay but makes it run smooth.
I know this is a super late response, but uhm.. This completely * up my game. Thanks. I feel gullible to a prank.
@2533125726 There should never be any files in the CurrentGame folder unless you actually have a save loaded. So deleting those files with the game closed won't have any negative impact and may in fact help.
I have my game loaded. I can't close it unless I want to lose my current progress, which obviously I don't. I've tried saving the game under a different name and the error code 16 continues to be a problem.
Can I still delete the files even with my game open? Because I can't close it otherwise..
@asheesksmith You shouldn't be deleting any files within the Sims 3 user folder while the game is running.
It's possible that your save is simply too large to save properly, in which case there isn't anything you can do at this point. But it's also possible that your hard drive is too low on space. To check, put the game in windowed mode, bring up a File Explorer window, click This PC, and you'll see how much free space you have on each drive. Please let me know the free and total space on each drive, as well as whether you've moved Documents or the Sims 3 user folder to a secondary drive.
I have all my game data on a hard drive that still has a good 3TB left. My original folders are on my normal computer storage but my game data isn't in that folder.. I'm not sure what else I can do
@asheesksmith I'm sorry, but I don't know of another way to get around Error 16. There are ways to clean up a save that's prone to that error, e.g. using Kuree Save Cleaner or making the world less cluttered. But I think the progress you've made in this last play session is unfortunately not recoverable.

Hello. I'm having this problem now. I just started playing this save a couple of days ago. I have 285 GB free out of 458 GB in my C drive. I backed up my Electronic Arts folder, cleared the cache, and emptied the recycle bin. I also deleted the .bad files in my Saves folder. I have them living in Riverview with one extra Venue, the laundromat from Town Life Stuff. I haven't added any more Sims to it than my household of 4 Sims. I wish the other post writer added on how much space they had so I could see if I have a similar problem. The only other game on my gaming laptop is The Sims 4 with Seasons, Dream Home Decorator game pack, and Halloween Stuff.
@enchantress6274 You have more than enough free storage to rule it out as the cause of this issue. I summarized the various known workarounds for the Error 16 here:
Please keep in mind that no one workaround helps everyone, and a few players aren't helped by any of them.

Hello, thank you for responding to my post. I'm not usually doing this at this hour but I woke up.
I set it to run as administrator after I did the compatibility mode. I don't think it matters, but I found the administrator instructions after I read your post a second time. I hope it is all set now.
But I do have only one shortcut. The expansion and stuff packs I downloaded from Origin. So how do I do the same for all my packs?
Thank you in advance for your help. I did test the game, it saved as so I accepted the compatibility mode of XP.
@enchantress6274 When you launch Sims 3, there's only one executable running, TS3.exe in your case. (It's TS3W.exe for disc or Steam installs.) The packs don't run as separate apps—their data is loaded into the game itself—so there's nothing else to run as an admin.

Thank you!! I may be all set to play it now, which is great, because I've been having trouble saving in my other saves too, but only when I played it to level 10 in a skill for each of my Sims.
I will be back in touch if it doesn't work because other players may be encountering similar issues.
Take care, you're the best for helping us!!!
