see if the reset object cheat will work for you to reset an object testingcheatsenabled true on then go into build mode and hold ctrl & shift and click on the fridge with the mouse and choose the option reset then turn the cheat off testingcheatsenabled false
Ah see I tried that when I went in search of a solution before putting this up -_-
The most annoying thing about all this, is that it took me 2 weeks to get Sims working after something fluffed up and I couldn't control anyone. It genuinely feels like the people of EA don't really want you to play this game with ease some times...
Solved!!
One of my old fridge CC mods (no shopping from fridge mod from Mod the Sims), which worked before but apparently now doesn't, was causing all the hullabaloo.

Did you delete the mod or did you update it?
I have the exact same problem and the same mod. I love that mod and would hate to have to delete it.
If the mod has been updated to your patch level you can update it. If not, you can't use it.
