OH, guess I got it the other way round. Dah me.

Well then do the following:

1. Make a copy of your savegame (aka save it under a new name).
2. Close your game (completely not just main menu)
3. Restart the game and start the copy
4. Evict your family and save the house to the bin
5. Close the game (completely not just main menu)
6. Restart the game and start your original
7. Continue playing.
