This is actually different for Store worlds.

What you have a 16 digit code (4 slots) so those are redeemed in the following area: https://store.thesims3.com/myAccount.html (it will ask you to log in with your thesims3.com account).

Then you can redeem your code there and you should look for the item in your purchase history.
