Re: Sims 3 expansions missing

I have been reading the past few days on Facebook and the problem seems to be with charge backs.  Whoever originally purchased the codes (and then resold them to simmers) has initiated a charge back with their credit card company.  Basically this means that they tell the CC company that they did not authorize the initial purchase and the CC company gives them their money back.  So, the CC company goes back to EA/Origin and voids the payment.  Now, EA/Origin is revoking usage rights for the games that they are being forced to refund the money for.  There is a petition on change.org to try to get folks their games back since they bought them in good faith.  All of this goes back to the original reseller on ebay (or where ever you buy cheap game codes).  They are trying to get their money back from their CC and keep the money folks paid them for codes.

Contact EA/Origin and see if they can help you.  Also...contact the site you purchased the codes through.  EBay should give you your money back...IDK about other sites!

Ok, so I've bought The Sims 3 Seasons from G2A almost a month ago. And i had no issues until almost last week i think 6/12/17 when i went to play the game and i noticed a few of my Sims 3 Seasons item missing from my sims family home, now i just thought i forgot to enable and play it but when i went to the launcher to enable it wasn't there as an option. So after a few freaks outs blah blah blah.. I looked online for some threads about this issue and one thread said i should repair the entire game itself. So i did, but that didn't anything. I checked on the game pack itself in my origin library, it weirdly says its installed but like i said its not showing up on the the launcher. I posted some pictures to show what i mean. I DO have a mod in the game but only one, but i'm pretty sure it didn't do anything.

    Hi everyone,

For all of you having the issue with Origin still allowing to download the packs but them not appearing on the launcher: you could try to use the Origin Beta version. To do so, go to Application settings > Application tab and select 'Participate in Origin client betas'.

Please, let me know if the issue is still happening in the Origin beta.

    Thank you,

    -Mai

  • I called to have them "flip a switch" or whatever they need to do to enable me to buy the gamepacks they blocked that I purchased from eBay. The person I talked to said she would file my claim. EA emailed my response. How am I supposed to buy my games when they will not allow me to buy them? The first message they sent said o needed to buy them from an authorized seller, the second message said I had to contact my retailer. Well, I have no clue how to buy my gamepacks when my Origin says I own them, and EA is telling me I have to re-buy them. It is extremely frustrating! I tried to purchase as a gift for myself, but it says I'm not eligible!
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!
  • MIsssAJ,

Did u submit ticket via the purchases history on G2A? I flagged my transaction from April (Ambitions expansion) and created a ticket under Invalid Key category. In two days I had money back and apologies from G2A.

  • @EA_Mage,

Thank you for trying to help. I tried Beta client and it still shows up as me owning them and I tried to purchase as a gift for myself and it says I'm ineligible. ☚ī¸

    Hi @EA_Mage,

This issue is still happening in Origin even though I purchased the games through ebay. I am trying to contact EA support but when I go to live chat it says page cannot be found. See screenshot. Also I have purchased the games through steam. Would EA remove the games if I port the steam codes to Origin?

  • Sorry if this is a little late sekiq84. But G2A just sent me an email and they're giving me a refund... I'm not sure it will change anything, i really don't care for the refund but its great they did that, but i don't think my game will be fixed

  • EA says Steam is an authorized seller. So, if I buy my packs through Steam and redeem the codes through Origin, will I be able to use the codes, even though Origin says I own them already? Also, I'm assuming I would have to uninstall and delete the gamepacks before purchasing from Steam. I have kept them installed in hopes of Origin re-instating them, it does not look as though that will happen. Steam is having a 75% off sale so I thought I would see if that would get me my 9 packs back!! 🙂
  • For helping anyone else that has been plagued with this nightmare! I was able to take advantage of Steam's 75% off sale and grab every expansion pack that EA blocked!! I just bought them from Steam (including the base game that you have to buy, but not necessarily install, to buy expansion and stuff packs ). I just redeemed the codes in Origin, and didn't even have to uninstall the games, the codes re-activated them! I'm not happy that I had to buy them twice, but I'm happy to be able to use my game saves again! And what a great sale to take advantage of for anyone that needs any games!!! Hope this helps!!!

    @Shannon4J

Thank you so much for the Steam Sale information - WOW they have some good bargains going on for a few more days. I have an old Steam account, but have not looked on there for a while. After reading your post I went there to browse the sales (I love Sales- LOL).

And I did not know you could purchase a Sims game code from steam and activate it on Origin - that is really nice to know!!!

Your tip will help alot of people that did not get their packs re-activated and would like to re-purchase or even for people like me that still had a few packs they wanted to get yet.

    Thanks Again & Happy Sim'in :eahigh_file:

@Shannon4J Thank you so very much for posting your success story where you repurchased blocked packs from the Steam sale (and the base game:we tried it and you can't purchase just the packs from Steam; you have to have the game in Steam). We put the codes (9 of them!) in Origin and Voila!!

It worked like a charm, so fast and easy! We were worried we'd end up doing some convoluted registry editing-type crazy work-around that you would need to be a rocket scientist to figure out. But, nope - Shannon to the rescue!  You rock: thanx again!!

  • @pixelcatss and @Catlee2,

I am so glad to have helped! I was beyond frustrated and at my wits end when EA would not help me! Any other game I would have just let it go, but my Sims 3!! 🙂

    Now I am beyond excited!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

@Shannon4J Do i half to buy the game itself? i would love to finally play with Seasons but i don't want to rebuy the game AND seasons

  • @MisssAj

If you have not looked at the prices yet you should. I think it said the sale goes until July 5. The base game is only $4.99 right now, so are most all the expansion packs. Just a couple are $7.49 and those have the base game plus an expansion (like pets or showtime)

@Shannon4J posted that yes you have to buy the base game to purchase any of the expansions - and that you do not have to install it - just use the expansion pack codes on your origin account and it will re-activate them

  • @MisssAj:
Yes, you need to purchase the base game, it is $4.99 United States price.

I was willing to pay it since it was so low and I got my blocked games back.
  • Yes, @Catlee2 said it correctly! 🙂

    Happy Simming!!!!!!!!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆
