Re: SIMS 3 My screen freezes after travelling

@pappkk21fifd  Both the travel destination and the hometown can have an effect on the travel transition: the more complicated they are, the more the game has to juggle during the transition.  So while I'm not totally sure Isla Paradiso is contributing to your travel issues, it's certainly plausible.  What you can try from here is lowering the stress on the game engine as much as possible:

  • Empty out your sims' inventories as much as is reasonable.  Having a few items is fine, but not much more.
  • Save the game immediately before you want your sims to travel.
  • Exit to the Main Menu and lower all the graphics settings to the minimum.  Turn off the in-game shopping experience and the interactive loading screens as well, then quit to desktop.
  • Delete the five cache files in your user folder (listed above) again.
  • Take your computer completely offline.  You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode before disconnecting your computer and launching the game.  Disable the Origin in-game overlay as well.
  • Load the game, and once the clock has run for a few sim-minutes, send your sims traveling right away.
  • Once they arrive in Egypt, use "save as" to rename the save, then quit.  If you want, you can first exit to the Main Menu and raise the graphics settings again, but be sure to quit to desktop before reloading the save.

I don't think you need to remove your mods and would actually suggest adding Register.  Errors with role sims seem to be relatively common when the travel transition fails, and while I can't tell you how much, if any, that contributes to the problem, it certainly wouldn't hurt to fix it.  I would also suggest disabling StoryProgression.  You don't need to remove it; just click on City Hall and select:

NRaas > SP > General Options > Enable Progression > False

This will disable SP while preserving all your in-save settings for when you're ready to reenable the mod.  While SP is quite stable and is unlikely to be causing any errors, it's also somewhat demanding, more so if you're running it on a higher speed, and right now your game needs all the relief it can find.

On a similar note, I'd suggest disabling Traveler's imposed progression (NRaas > Traveler > Perform Travel Actions > False) as well.  This performs progression-related calculations as the new world loads, which also adds a little overhead at precisely the wrong time.

Regardless of how you proceed, it's a good idea to use "save as" to rename the save before traveling, so you have the original as backup should you need it again.  There's always a chance your sims get stuck on vacation, with the game refusing to load the homeworld just as it's refusing to load Egypt now.  So this way, you can revert to the backup if necessary, and all you'll lose is the time you spent playing through the vacation.
