You always need the DVD of the latest expansion you own. That's how it works.

I have windows 7 and I am using the newest cd I have for it which is seasons. My computer does register the cd and then it takes a couple dozen times of ejecting the cd and then re-launching the sims launcher to get it to work
Does the disc have any scratches ?
You could get the download version of Seasons from Origin for free (should be already in myGames to download), then you won't need the disc.
You need to uninstll the disc version though. Doing it for Seasons should be enough.
