Re: Unwanted Spawners - Can anyone help

@BillFlowerpot  This one, I can fix.  First, it should be noted that if a lot has an empty house icon instead of an empty lot icon, it should be bulldozed before you place anything there.  If this erases the lot from the map, you can place a couple of walls in build mode, and then the bulldoze tool should leave an empty lot.

But onto your specific question.  Without mods, the only other way to remove spawners is with buydebug.  Bring up the cheat console (crtl-shift-c) and enter "testingcheatsenabled true" without the quotes.  Then bring up the console again and enter "buydebug on."  In build mode, you should see a question mark icon just above the user interface; in buy mode, you might need to be in the "sort by category" tab instead of "sort by room."  (or whatever they're called; you want the second tab, above family inventory)  When you click the ? icon, you should be able to see the spawners.  You should be able to delete or sell most of them this way; if you're having trouble with one, try shift-clicking it to object-delete.  If this doesn't work either, try using the "moveobjects on" cheat as well.

If you can't find a spawner, try building a basement.  Sometimes spawners can get stuck underground.

By the way, be sure to turn off all of those cheats (moveobjects off, buydebug off, testingcheatsenabled false) when you're done.  Moveobjects in particular can bork your game if you keep it on during live play.

Hi, thank you for you help.  The cheats have been of great help in most cases but not all.  On one lot that I estimate as having over sixty spawners for fish (I only wanted four), (Mirabello Plaza [even worse it was one of my first uploads to the exchange. I have subsequently removed it from the list], I had no idea of how pernicious they can be) using the cheats revealed the spawners but they would not budge.  I tried including the 'moveobjects' and 'Shift clicking' (both left and right mouse) but they remained stubborn. Knowing that I can easily rebuild I used the bulldozer and built a sentry box then bulldozed several times but they still remained. I even bulldozed the lot footprint (even though I knew I could not replace one of the dimensions required) but that had no effect on the spawrners. Which brought me back to one of my original statements.  Again thank you for your help.  As ever Billflowerpot.
