Solved

My Sims 3 has no sound.

Running it on Windows 11 with Steam.

Whenever I launch the game, it never has sound. Here's what I've already tried:

  • I thought maybe it had something to do with the mods I had installed, so I removed them all, but to no avail.
  • I've verified the game files in Steam, and I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled it multiple times.
  • I've deleted the files in my Documents under EA and reinstalled, but it still hasn't worked.
  • I've seen in other threads where people have been recommended to 'manually' open the game by going into the install folder and launching 'TS3W.exe' and this doesn't work for me.
  • I've checked my volume mixer and there's nothing wrong with it.

I'm completely lost as to what could be causing it.

  • Managed to solve this with a rather silly fix.. turns out the sim3 wasn't compatible with my windows sound format (attached). I turned the quality down and now everything works fine.
