Re: [Current Issue] Sims 3 "serious error" when loading save

Hi, I have 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1215U   1.20 GHz computer.

After being able to launch the game for the first time and saving the world then trying to launching it again it says " a serious error has occurred while downloading"

Solutions I tried and didn't work;

  1. Reinstalling the game
  2. Task manager CPU settings
  3. Changing folder location (works at first but after saving and launching the game again it doesn't work)
  4. Stopping Onedrive sync
  5. Deleting Onedrive
  6. Turning off antivirus
  7. Downloading the game from steam then EA
  8. Creating a new different world
  9. Changing file name( also works at first)
  10. Downloading a new launcher

    314f1qdxmhjb  When you say you changed a folder's location, which folder was that?  And what about the file name?

    Is the Documents directory for your Windows account still in the OneDrive folder?  Simply disabling or uninstalling OneDrive doesn't necesesarily move the directory out of OneDrive.  (Your computer has several documents folders, but only one is designated as the directory for a given Windows account, and Sims 3 will try to use that location too.)

    If you're not sure where the Documents directory is currently, search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command:

    reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

    The will return the location of the Documents directory.  If it's still in OneDrive, you can force it back to the standard location:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/operation-to-change-a-personal-folder-location-fails-in-windows-ffb95139-6dbb-821d-27ec-62c9aaccd720

    If this doesn't help, try creating a new admin Windows account and playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address (you can keep saying no), and there will be no OneDrive tie-in.

    puzzlezaddict  The folder that I mentioned that I changed its location is;

    Documents> Electronic Arts> The Sims 3

    And when I pasted this to Command Prompt the command you mentioned it didn't show that the file was in OneDrive i think it means that the problem is not OneDrive.
