Yes, it was way easier. ;) I tried it but I don't remember what happened. I think it was the same problem. (ewww, shame on me...)
I think you're right... I downloaded a year ago or something Sims from the exchange with skins which came with the Sim.

It hasn't been updated in a while but there are new mods that do the same.

Do you have any links to that?
