No need to reinstall the game. You can try the factory reset described on page one instead or maybe you can fix it without even having to do that.

I don't think he had a job? I'm not too worried about him anyway - the boys all love her so she's onto greener pastures ;)
I tried resetting her and it didn't work :( She is from before Seasons.
And I'm pretty much the only one who cooks - wasn't sure if that was a bug or not - right now I'm more concerned with the crashing (I posted over there) - I do keep getting the empty panel and the lack of Sim needs panel, and I did a bunch of using the backup files, and deleting the ones with the ".bad" extension. I got it to work again but then it stopped working again and the game I started after that (with Bebe Hart from Sunset Valley) stopped working too - that one the sim panels showed but the family's icons were blank. Will work on the reset tmw morning.
