Does anyone know any workarounds or fixes for this yet? I tried the give the pet up for adoption and re adopt but that changes the traits because it seems to generate a new version of that pet and all your sims get upset for losing their pet. I added Mayor Whiskers through household merge and he's in my household but i'm not able to train or command him as he's not registering properly as my pet.
I'm not sure if this applies to this issue (in this thread) but I haven't played in about a month due to RL conflicts. So. I've got 2 adult cats that I made in CAS, and all previous kittens I've adopted out. No problems last year other than the 1-kitten/puppy-per-litter-only-after-restarting-the-game glitch. My adult cats have been trained as much as I need them to be, I guess... but I started playing again this week, and today my first kitten I kept has aged up. I can't scold the damn thing. Everything it does that I lectured my adult cats for, I can't lecture it. Not my adult SIM, none of the kids. I haven't seen my adult cats doing anything that I'd lecture them for, so I can't test whether it's a kitten-grown-to-adult thing. Or maybe it's the most recent patch? Either way, I'm tired of the newly-adult cat jumping on the counters and eating the food as soon as it's made, and I can't do anything other than mean actions!

are you using any mods in your game ? If so, try removing those.

Was there ever a fix for this? I ran into this issue as well. I've uninstalled all of my mods.... I wish there were a cheat to reset the pet as a stray so that I could let my pet adopt it again. This is a pet I moved in via manage household because it would not let me adopt it even though it was a stray with maxed out friendship... avoid one bug and run into another...
