[ARCHIVED] [CD] [HR] Pets/Horses are black

I seem to be having this issue too. It is easy to detect upon the game’s loading – in my library, if the thumbnails of the families that have pets with prints load instantly, it almost certainly means that said pets will be completely black. If the thumbnails take a while to load the pets will be okay. Exiting the game and restarting it helps. I suppose the glitch re-emerged when the latest EP was released (even though I do not have it), and some improper coding of horses in the preceding update might have made the glitch spread onto cats and dogs as well.
