Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have your own vet clinic, examine a pet (it seems to mainly be cats) and hope for the worst.
What happens when the bug occurs? The examination starts and the table goes up. Eventually the table will automatically go down (sometimes instantly, sometimes after a couple of minutes) and the pet runs off. The pet returns after a while and examination can continue then, however it may get disrupted again.
What do you expect to see? Hopefully a fix so I don't have to leave patients waiting, or dismiss the runaway pets every time (causing my rating to go down).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I'm not sure when this started as I just got this EP and I've had the issue directly when I tried out for vet clinic.

I've seen this maybe once in my game when I was playing the vet career.
Do you have any idea what triggers it ? Are they low in need, really stressed ?
I think it may be trait related because the cats weren't stressed or low in needs. They just seemed to run off the map and took a bit to retrieve.
It could be that the carefree (or something like that) trait may not properly work when taking vets in consideration :P
I think this is caused by their owner starting an animation/interaction with their pet around the same time that your active vet sim greets the owner (to start the exam with the pet).
I've noticed that the pet will wander away towards the spot on the floor where the owner was but then reroutes back to the exam table once they get to the spot on the floor. Mostly the owner will have moved to stand somewhere else.
If the owner is still standing in the same spot then the owner will interact with the pet and then the active vet sim often needs to cancel he exam and start it manually again.
Not sure if this helps any, but in a nutshell it seems like it is an animation that was started between the pet and it's owner that is causing animals to move away from the exam table and the surgery machine.

What happens when the bug occurs? Cat wanders off after greeting patient and either jumps onto a park bench and constantly mews on it or is examining flowers/dig spots for hunting. Attempts to examine the cat has my PC sim waving her arms in the air that she can't reach the cat.
What do you expect to see? Cat to move to the exam table after greeting the patient and stay there whilst being examined.

If this happens when an NPC vet is about to examine the cat they get stuck in a loop where they're trying to examine the cat but can't and the cat constantly mews if it's on a surface and doesn't come down. Moving or removing the surface causes the cat to teleport to another surface allowing a PC vet to interact with it, however the NPC vet will still remain stuck and unable to interact with the cat or any other pet on the lot until the said cat has been successfully examined and cured by the PC vet.
At first I thought the surfaces themselves were at fault for cats that were eager to jump on surfaces and causing a loop where they want to do what they want to do whilst the NPC vet wants to examine them, but I suspect the issue is also down to the exam table as the issue happened on an empty lot with no walls and only a wastebasket, exam table, and podium and just a PC vet. After greeting the patient the cat then ran off to examine flowers and dig spots and every attempt to examine it resulted in my PC vet waving her arms in the air complaining she was unable to reach the cat. However on moving the exam table itself the PC vet was able to examine the cat and both raced back to the exam table.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Play a household: 2 sims and 1 sick pet. 2. Place a "Dr. Magi Heal's Get Better Table" on the residential lot (outside/backyard). 3. Click it and select "Begin Examining (petname)". 4. The pet will walk to the exam table.
What happens when the bug occurs? The table will go down, the pet walk in, table go up. And go down instantly, the pet walk away from the table. (Try again, same result. 3rd time, "Exam Results" UI finally appears.)
What do you expect to see? This table is unreliable. This bug exist since C&D released.

I guess someone already reported this because this is recognizable.
I'm also having this issue about 80% of the time. For me, the animal will go on the exam table and before the exam progress even shows up the exam table goes down and the pet gets off. I have to cancel my sims action to examine the pet and then choose to examine again.

I'm unsure if the issues are connected but we currently have two threads.

Just installed the pets expansion yesterday. Playing as a vet has worked fine while treating npc pets, but when I adopted a sick cat and tried to treat it with my sim I have the same issues: exam tabe will raise with cat and I can do one examination, then the table lowers and cat runs away or stands there meowing for a game hour. Took all day to treat it, and only because I got the diagnosis done with surgery machine. Same experience with another stray cat.
I moved your post over to another thread we have on the issue. Think it's a better fit from what you describe.
The other was about an actual reset (T-Pose)
I'm not sure about reseting, but I've had pets (mostly cats) that get off the exam table again and again. My solution has become to "treat" them with the "cone of shame" as soon as I can. It won't increase your ratings, but it frees up your Vet to exam other pets.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to examine your pet at an examination table
What happens when the bug occurs? The pet will get on the examination table, the table will rise, the table will almost immediately lower, the pet will then sprint to the front door and your sim will run to the front door too saying they’re freezing.
What do you expect to see? For the pet to stay on the examination table for me to examine him and make him better.

I feel like this is effected by the season. It’s currently snowing in my game and whenever I try to examine any pets, the immediately say they’re freezing and run to the thermostat, which is by the front door. That area seems to be a place where my sims and pets just stand around a lot.
