How often does the bug occur? Both times I tried to adopt a dog in one of my saves; I was successful adopting a cat in another save
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm guessing by adopting a pet, but am not sure, as I was able to successfully adopt a pet (cat) in another save.
What happens when the bug occurs? Used hire service/adopt a pet via computer, person showed up with pet, after any amount of interactions, when my sim selects "Adopt (200)" I'm prompted to confirm that I want to adopt the pet, the animation occurs, there's a notification that the pet has been added to my family, but it is not added to the family, and when the pet adoption evaluation time is up the pet disappeared (I didn't realize until later that they didn't appear in my household 🙂 ).
What do you expect to see? Pet should be added to the family, an icon added next to my household sims (that did happen in another save where I was successful & when I added them through manage household).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? I Had MCC, but removed before the Nov 7 patch; that's the only mod I've ever had and never any cc. I've cleared my game cache and repaired my game after each patch and after installing Cats and Dogs
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? It happened after the Nov 15 patch, but can't say it wouldn't have happened before, I've only attempted to adopt a pet in one other save and it was successful.
INFORMATION NEEDED
Did you start a new save or is it a pre-patch save ? It occurred on a pre patch save, but I was also successful adopting in another pre patch save
Are you living in a house or apartment ? House (Daisy Hovel that I updated, FYI, I used this same updated home to successfully adopt a cat in my other save as I had saved it to my library and placed it in that save.)
What interaction did you do before fully adopting the puppy/dog ? I did a friendly introduction and some other friendly interactions, including feeding the puppy (and dog when I tried again) a treat.
Did you switch game mode while the adoption was running (for example go to build mode) ? Not the first time. Possibly the second time (ie the adoption person was there, but I had already initiated the adoption and been told the dog was added to my household).
Have you ever used mods/cc with that save game ? Yes, MCC for both saves, the one I was successful with and the one I wasn't.
Are there any tight spaces involved on your lot ? Possibly, but as I commented I was able to successfully adopt on the same lot in another save.
Do you have the issue that the carrier didn't go away or also that the pet wasn't added to your household ? The carrier did leave with the adoption person.
How many times did you try ? Did you get the issue each time ? Twice in the one save and yes. I have the first failed attempt recorded as part of a let's play.
If you have any last Exception files from around the time when it happened, please attach them. I've attached two last exception files that possibly happened when the adoptions failed.
Anything else that comes to mind ? 1) One of my sims is pregnant (alien abduction) and there are already 5 sims in the house. 2) I had moved sims around using manage households shortly before attempting the adoption (moved a sim out and 2 back in).
