I am sorry to know that your issue has not been resolved. Please do not worry, we are here to assist you. To fix this issue, please reset your Sim by following the below steps:
Please press together CTRL-SHIFT-C. A grey text input field appears at the top of the screen.
The use resetSim {FirstName} {LastName} - Resets the Sim.

I just checked when sims disappear, and it happens exactly at 3 AM every night. It happens mainly to autospawned sims with no house.
That didn't work for me. It said "sim not found"
If I make friends or meet the new sims, they always dissapear from my network list for next day and this make things hard for me get a promotion
Same exact thing is happening to me and I'm quite unhappy about it as it is making my game play unsatisfying.
I'm seeing over the internet that I am not the only one with this problem, but I can't seem to find an aswer as to why. After the original neighborhood set of sims (the goth family, etc) died they either turned into ghosts who never left their houses or disappeared. I see random people on the street and make friends with them and they disappear the next day. I have the fill empty houses box in the settings checked as well. My question is why aren't new people regenerating into the empty houses?
After I ran the new update for Sims 4, when my sims meet someone new and form a relationship, that relationship is not saving and disappears as soon as the Sim goes back home, unless I am able to get them to meet someone, fall in love, and marry all in one shot. Otherwise, even if they get engaged to a sim that sim disappears as soon as my sim I am playing returns home or goes away from them. The relationship does not show up in the relationships section for that sim. Are other people having this problem? It is quite frustrating.

I'm having the same problem. Every time my sims from my played households goes out to eg. the park, he/she will meet new unplayed sims/townies form friendships ect but as soon as my sims go back home the newly made friend disapears from relationshop panel and can no longer be found in the game. So my sims can never keep friends or find spouses unless done all in one sitting. Kinda game breaking, i don't really want to have to make and house sims for each of my sims i like the randomness of meeting game created partners.

twice today i have has a sims fiance disapear after he has been sleeping. They are not on the friends pannel and cant chat. Very frustrating
Is there anything i can do?

Whenever my Sims become friends with another Sim and they lose contact for even a few hours, the new friend disappears from my Relationship Panel. Not only have I lost several boyfriends and girlfriends, but now my Sims have no friends to hang out with. This honestly ruins the entire Sims 4 experience for myself and I've noticed plenty of other Players facing the same problem.
EA was voted the worst gaming company of 2014, so there's no surprise that they haven't at least attempted to solve our issues. This was definitely not worth my $65.00 until we get answers and solutions!
I can't be the only one with this issue.

Today my household disappeared too, but this is probably a slightly different case than described above:
I switched temporarily from playing my main household to a different one. Meanwhile I also decided to "clean up" my unplayed households and deleted all randomly generated sims as well as a joined household which contained:
So the deleted household was a superfluous household, as both sims were saved as separate households (at least so I thought)!
But when I tried to go back to my main household (copy of sim A) it was empty and not loading. Also the second household (copy of sim B) was empty. Both households are still listed in played or unplayed households, respectively, but without sims.
It appears to me that somehow the joined household and the separate households were connected. Otherwise this would be a big coincidence.
I also tried the "resetsim" but the sim isn't found anymore...
*Update: I'm not sure if the joined household was listed among played or unplayed households, but it contained definetely a separate copy of the sims.
At 2:45 AM, Sims time, all of the friends disappear from the phone and friends list. This means no phone calls to friends for party invites. Any solution? Thanks!
My sims are disappearing in game. The minute my sims make friends, they are gone the next. Not to be found in the friendship panel any longer. It's making my game unplayable. It's hard to advance in some of the careers without friends and I can't keep romance relationships either. Like I paid almost 80 dollars for this game and I would really like to enjoy it. Please help? Thanks in advance.
Sims acquaintances do not show up on their phone so can't be called or invited over or to social events. Without that I find it impossible for them to have enough contact to make any friends. I have taken them out to lots, made numerous acquaintances, and they show up but are missing from the phone shortly thereafter. I have gone to a little park area by the home lot and invited other sims over in order to get the score higher and hope they would show on the phone but that didn't work either.
Is there a solution to this problem?

I had two seperate Sim disappearing acts yesterday. Not sure if it's a conisidence or not, but I did also download yesterdays patch.
The first instance was the entire Johnny Zest household dissapeared. I only noticed when I returned to neighbourhood view after changing my in-game graphic settings to have Sim's detail as 'Very high' instead of 'High'. As I say, once I returned to neighbourhood view the entire Zest household had vanished from their lot and the lot was now vacant. I searched the household management too and not there. So totally gone.
The second instance was when I was playing my main family. When I returned to play them one of the children was missing (but his face icon was still shown below. Every time I right clicked on his face icon to try and locate him, it wouldnt take me to him. He's just gone.). I did however notice that despite him being gone, there were actions being carried out in his action list (if thats the right terminoly for it).
Hi, ever since the latest patch, my Sims has not been keeping any new acquantices in their relationship list. I had my sim go on a date with a guy she just met and they had a romantic relatinship. When she went home, the next day he was not in the panel as if she never met him. Just now, she met someone new and got really friendly with a guy in her neighborhood. The next day, he was gone. Is anyone else having this issue, and EA can you please fix this?
My sims are losing their contacts when they are sleeping. Its just dissapeards and it's very annoying when you're playing. You can't do friends because the next morning you will not be able to hang out with them because they don't know about your existence! And same when you want to have a couple.
The sims 4 is a game based in real life but, what happens when you can't make your own family?
Please, do something soon. It's a really big problem to this game.

This bug drives me crazy.
Just wanted to give my input. I just installed the No Culling mod (same one Crin linked a few posts ago). I took my Sim to a park and met two other sims. Returned home, sims were gone from the panel. (Went home around 1 am, so it's probably the overnight bug thing, though maybe it's a travelling issue.) Both were Acquaintance status. Clicked the phone and they were in the phone list and I could chat. They appeared back in the relationship panel, though with completely reset relationships - no green bar progress, no traits known.
I will play further to see if they disappear again; I thought the mod would fix this. Maybe there are mutliple issues here? It truly is rather game-destroying for any aspects requiring relationships at all.
Edit: Just noticed the other Sim in my household does still have 2 relationships in his panel, they've been there a long time then. Maybe they live in houses, I'll try to check that out. Stupid game. Edit 2: 1 of those sims is in a house, the other is not.
