I also have this problem. Everything in fridges, toy boxes, and bookcases keeps disappearing on my rental retail lot. At first I thought it was someone from the welcome wagon event that stole it all, then I thought it was because it was switching to a different household because I had shared libraries and a shared kitchen so I got rid of the shared fridge (I'm not too worried about loosing books and toys, but I am about food ingredients). Still kept happening. Then I discovered that my butler was a kleptomaniac so I deleted her from my game (I went to manage households because I was curious about her and deleted her from there). But it happened again. From reading this it may be because of editing the lot from manage worlds? Could be. I also, flattened another lot and brought a different Sim's pet to the vet.
