[ARCHIVED] [GTW] Birth at hospital not possible/No Staff on duty

I've had several successful hospital births.. but my last Sim went to the hospital with several hours before she was due to work- (science live job)

it took me a minute to check in with the check in nurse, because I let my sim do something else first...

but then I noticed no one was there but the C-I-nurse.

I don't know if everyone else went home because I delayed, or never showed.

The Dad had to go to his (Non-Live) job while the mother waited...  Then 1-2 hours later the mom got her work announcement.

I went to work with her.

She did her entire day of work, successfully filling her job bar, before time to return home.

When she returned home, her promotion bar had barely moved... poor thing.

I sent her straight back to the hospital out of curiosity, where she successfully gave birth.

I have no mods, no CC installed. This is a brand new game. I'm playing three brothers, my version of the Sims 2 Curious brothers. Pascal is in the medical career, Vidcund in science, and Lazlo is a programmer.

Pascal was abducted first, his labor & delivery went as it normally should in the hospital. I had him check in at the front desk, he made his way to the surgery room, and within a few minutes, his daughter was born. No problems encountered.

Vidcund was the second abduction of the household. I had problems with him giving birth at the hospital. Vidcund went into labor a couple of minutes before Pascal was supposed to leave for his daily job at the hospital. I send Vidcund alone. The doctor stood at the curb and did not move, even after Vidcund checked in. Pascal showed up at the hospital around this time to begin his shift. Although the red heart symbol appeared above Vidcund's head, he never walked to the surgery room. He just stood there, so I sent him home. The game seemed still broken, so I clicked on Pascal, and the only option I had was to also "send home." Once I did that, I finally got the loading screen again to go back to the house.

Now back on the home lot, Vidcund was the only one there. Pascal was still "at work," Lazlo off on his daily job, and Pascal's daughter at school. I sent Vidcund back to the hospital to have his child. This time, it did not show Pascal there at the hospital. But Vidcund immediately walked to the surgery room, didn't have to check in at all, and the doctor who had been standing on the curb the previous time was already at the surgery controls. Vidcund's daughter was born within minutes and I sent them home.

I don't know if it was the doctor that was broken, or Pascal's work shift at the hospital causing issues.

Interesting observation.

This might be fixed. Patch notes are a bit vague on it.

I had a similair issue once. My sim was pregnant and I chose to give birth at hospital. Then I chose her brother should accompany her (he is a doctor at the hospital). When we arrived I had her check in at the counter, and then nothing.  We waited for a very very long time. Her brother even started his work time so i had to have him working while i was waiting for her to give birth, but it didn't happen. Then when his work day ended i could choose for her to return home as well. Then i had her check in again and this time it worked, because i didnt bring her brother the doctor along. 

It seems strange to me that her brother couldn't deliver the baby when he is a doctor, AND it is strange that there isn't more than one doctor allowed at work at the same time. There really should be one 24/7 (not the same one, but on rotation).

After the latest patch, the staff still lags getting to the hospital, but they always eventually show up. 

I have been having the same problem, even after the latest patch.  My sim stood around in the lobby for about six hours after checking in with nothing happening.  He was also locked into place and could not make any more actions.  One of the doctors, who happened to be a ghost, was standing outside the building for the duration.  After the six hours, the doctor left and a nurse showed up instead.  My sim started walking around after that, but all the nurse did was follow my sim around.  No other doctors showed up.  After another six hours, the process repeated - the nurse left, another nurse showed up and followed my sim around and nothing else.

I sent my sim back home and then went back to the hospital and one of the sims who was previously a nurse was then a doctor and my sim was checked in immediately.

Seems like it might specifically have to do with not having any doctors on the staff at all, not just none on duty.  I had a similar issue playing the doctor career with a different family and being unable to fulfill the task "Transfer Patient File" due to there being no doctors working at the hospital.
