I did switch families, but it was a different saved file.
When I went back to play this particular family all the progress was gone ☹️
I did not save all of my collectibles, only a few that I had displayed. Once I put them into a sims inventory it would register that they found the item, but I had all the plants collected at one point as well as fossils and metals and that progress is completely erased.
Did not move the family either.

It sounds like a similar problem.
If you want you can delete this issues and I will follow the other post. I imagine that they are basically the same issue. Thanks!
