My house members are all 7 at the moment. One of them joined the Scientist career. As you know, the scientist has to move to work place for 5 days a week. It happened just once when my scientist sim was collecting some metals and crystals at work place, all collection records reset to 0 and it's shown as I collected newly 2 decorative eggs and a couple of metals. All gardening collection has gone as well.
After moving back to home lot, I put all the items into my daddy sim's personal inventory, the list started to be filled again. Since that time, I haven't got the glitch back even though he moves to work place every day. For me, just in case, I placed all items I collected on the basement in secret. :D If you have stored items you collected, then you can refill them straightaway, otherwise you may collect them again. I couldn't get the cow berry seeds back into my collection because I used it for my gardening as a fertilizer. so it's shown as I still haven't collected it.

Is there a chance you have a backup from before it went missing to see if it's reproducible ?
My tip is to always save under new names and immediately reload the game without saving if you see them go missing (unless you're fine with having to redo them)
hmm..no.. I usually save my game at least once or even twice every sim day. It's a kind of habit of protecting my games from the sims 3 crashing issue I had long time ago. I just save my game unconsciously now. But Thanks for the good tip. I will remember it. 🙂
