The first thing I always do is removing MC or any other mods to make new tests and then report it here. But doing such thing didn't showed any positive results.
In game I just switched the families and he forgotten about all collections.
But I remembered that something happened to me long time ago...
The conditions for this bug to happen was when my son born when I was not playing with the family. In that case I tried for baby before switching.
I did the same thing with Nick but I'm not sure if that is the case yet...
I'll test some more and perhaps can find some answers!

It's definitely an issue that you will need to test with your prior to loose collection save cause once it's lost, no amount of removing mods will bring them back.
There's a few conditions that have caused this issue, mostly when moving or traveling
I'm merging this with the other thread we have on the issue although the conditions seem different.
