Side question: Is "Enable Follow Messages" set to On, or Off? - If set to "Off" they just attend school as before the new expansion pack.

I don't even have that option, the school menu is just like before the pack
I have zero mods I bought the game and I have the same issue. Can't follow my sims to school
I was only able to go to school with my teen only once, the other days the clocks goes past 8am, no messages and my teens DO NOT even go to school, I click on the Go To School icon on the career panel and its just get ignored, so I decided just travel to school manually, and instead i got principal telling on the lines you have the nerve in showing up when you are Skipping school for something, so I have no choice but to take the entire day off.
For anyone that doesn't have mods or cc (emtpy mods folder but resource.cfg file), deleted cache files, no other folders in the saves folder) please makes sure you have set follow Sim to ON and play more than one day.
