Possible solution: I managed to normalize the appearance of the store owner and the barista. As the poetry event starts on Monday at 3pm, I decided with my sim to show up on that day so that the correct event could begin. So, when Monday arrived at 3pm, the event that was stuck in poetry recitation changed to the fashion show, with customers returning normally, the owner of the thrift store and the barista appearing.
