I had this issue with one of my sims, I tried deactivating and activating Social Bunny again (not the notifications, Social Bunny itself) and the issue seems to be fixed now, follower count started increasing. Maybe that might be the solution for some of you.

Didn't work for me, also exiting the game and restarting doesn't work either.

Safe to say, it's still an issue.
