[ARCHIVED] Issues with Skin Tone Genetics (Patch 1.69.59)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.69.59.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to for baby, and wait and see, or play with genetics in CAS
What happens when the bug occurs? My children are always born with white skin unless both parents are darker, and even then it happens in play with genetics
What do you expect to see? Children born with a shade around the halfway point of their parents, because that is what I was getting before
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. The slider update

I have several biracial families and noticed all of my sims kids were being born caucasian after the slider update. And not just any caucasian. The whitest of the white; white than their white parent. I was excited to see this addressed in the december 14th patch, but nothing changed so my excitement was for nothing.

  • The baby should have a darker skintone but they have a lighter skintone when they are in the crib. The icon shows a baby with a light skintone aswell. I looked at the gallery photo of the family, and the baby had a darker skintone. When she aged up to a toddler she had a darker skintone aswell.

  • I’m having this issue on console (PS4) whenever my mixed couples have a baby, the babies ALWAYS default to the lighter skin tone and sometimes end up even lighter than their parents. It’s super frustrating

I've had this on console for over a year if memory serves me right. Defaults to much, much darker skintone than parents. It's not something that massively bothers me but just adding additional info. It started after adding Realm of Magic.

  • Medium dad and light mom had a dark baby in my game lol. One of my friends said all her babies are dark. My other friend said the scott’s from henford had a white baby.

@LyssSimpatico Is the baby dark in the crib or just the icon/household manager pic ? If you grow the baby up for testing, is it still dark ?
