Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.63.134.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Vampire, realm of magic, discover uni, island living, get to work, seasons, free holiday
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I have created a new character, vampire, YA, no cc/mods. Play it long enough to apply and be accepted to Foxbury uni. Move into Maritime Manor. The first time I didn't get the character stuck with the loading error bug, second time I did, but that's a separate bug, so I'm not sure it's relevant.
What happens when the bug occurs? Open build mode. The household money is semi-blocked by a venue money symbol, which has no simoleons - and if I sell everything in the lot, even though the items light up as purchaseable in the list, the funds never change, and if I try to buy something it says funds insufficient.
What do you expect to see? My household funds, and the ability to buy new objects actually working.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Updated to latest patch, had mod issues, forced a folder refresh, repaired game, updated all mods, made new character for testing on-campus uni life, bug occurred, did another force folder refresh, no mods on game, repaired game, created new character with same traits/nature (ie vamp), enrolled in uni, moved to same place to see if the bug still occurred. Spoiler alert: It did
This is less gamebreaking than the load error bug, I guess, but still bloody irritating (I wanted to swap out a bad bed for a good one and it's led me on a quest for answers that's taken over 2h of troubleshooting already xD)
- 5 years ago@Jeanieraiy I have this same bug, no fix yet.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Jeanieraiy Is the lot type itself still correct or did that change as well ?

It's still listed as Uni housing, yes.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Jeanieraiy Can you send me your save ? Instructions in my signature.

I suspect this is mod-related even though you removed your mods. You shouldn't be able to access Build/Buy mode (without cheats) for University housing if you are living there. If you do use cheats, such as bb.enableFreeBuild, you should have infinite funds like you would at a community lot. You don't own University housing, so changes are not supposed to affect your household funds.
I just tried this with an existing Sim. She moved into Maritime Manor after applying for university and enrolling at Foxbury. She was not able to access Build/Buy mode without cheats. Build/Buy mode was unlocked when I used bb.enableFreeBuild but had the infinite symbol in place of funds. I'm not getting the results that you are.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Sketch793 There does seem to be a bug.
It's similar to this one: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-Residential-lots-turning-into-other-lots-types/td-p/9170257 which also affects console players.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Jeanieraiy Checked your save and the only solution I found is to evict the Sim from the uni housing. After that the lot is normal again. You will need to move into off-campus housing for the rest of the termn.
I did not test if the bug comes back if someone moves back in on the next term but I think it should be fine.- 5 years ago
Can you evict students stuck in limbo? the 2nd save.
This pack is so buggy, sigh.
Thanks for trying to fix it 🙂
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Jeanieraiy I tried for both saves. Do it from the map. Click on the house they live in on the map, then go go the lower right corner, click on the three dots, then choose evict
